I gave up on trying to repair the fan in my HA-6 and just installed a new "muffin" fan of which the mounting holes were the same. Everything that I tried on the old fan would only last for a few minutes. Therefore, the new fan. Now the fan in my HA-2, which I have had for going on 30 years, is still going strong. I acquired the HA-6 a couple of years ago. The unit was in excellent condition but the fan already had problems.

Subject: [Hallicrafters] HA-6 Transverter
Any knowledgeable people out there on the HA-6 transverter? I am in
the process of refurbishing one.
Has anyone replaced the bushings in the cooling fan? Mine has a lot of
end play and rattles. It appears that it is necessary to drill out the
rivets holding the mounting bracket to the motor frame. Or is it
possible to press the bushings further into the fan bracket to take out
the end play? It looks as if that could be done without removing the
brackets.
