You are correct of course and there-in lies a paradox for some. If a
completely original historically significant piece was locked away in a vault
all these years and still looked wrapping paper new when discovered any
attempts at restoring would not be recommended. SX-88s are not really in that
class and have more value to most after replacing degraded and now poorly
functioning 57 year old original parts, certainly more practical value anyway.
What to do with an SX-88 or any radio for that matter is always matter of
personal choice for each owner. Another problem often encountered is one
of physical condition. The receivers didn't have the best quality factory
paint and the cosmetic appearance of most did not withstand the test of time
well. The receivers were also not unlike many others though perhaps being
fairly significant at the time they soon became little more than just
another old radio after a few years.

Hello all...

As the EBAY presentation shows, this sx-28a is no ordinary restoration,
its a total rebuild!

I have one of the seller's early project sx-28s that was an electrical
restoration, re-silked front panel
and case. It is extraordinary.

In fact the buyer of the ebay item DROVE from Texas to pick up this rare
and unique piece.

As they say, value is in the eyes and the wallet of the beholder!
