[Hallicrafters] URM-25D arrived

I'm on Bob 's side. KISS overhauled my 25D and it's perfect. It's well
worth the cost and, once it's done, I don't think you'll ever have a problem
with it.

I don't know that LEDs are so much a forbidden thing. We all have our own
ideas and methods.

However, the biggest reason that these lamps are commonly found to be dead,
is the difficulty in replacing them.

The URM-25(X) *can* be very difficult to work on. There isn't much space
that is unused.

I'd go for the Kiss-Electronics "Total Overhaul Kit". I's also order some
replacement bulbs.

The reason for the kit, is simply that there are a BUNCH of old capacitors
inside. While it may well be fully functional, those old capacitors will
bite your rump! It is only a matter of time. The kit also contains the
requisite resistors.

Once gone through, and the lamps replaced, you'll be very happy for a long
period of time. The current status of yours is testament to its longevity.

I am NOT affiliated with Kiss-Electronics in any manner. I know them by
reputation.
