Jason,

Once gone completely through, the AN/URM-25D will provide long service 
and fit into all tube type receivers that you will "most" likely run.

It isn't a bad choice at all!

Your Elmer's sound like you are in good hands!

You'll enjoy the overall experience, and the HT-37/SX-101 MK2 will be a 
good station.

If you decide to get on AM, all you'll need is an Amp.  You could build 
a pair of 813s in Grounded Grid.

Then again, an AMP wouldn't be a bad idea even on SSB.

If you decide to go that way, give me a holler.  I've got some parts 
that will make the PI network easier.

The price will be right too!
