[Hallicrafters] My First Boat Anchor Restoration: SX101 MkIII

The SX-101 series is definitely better than the SX-111.  The SX-111 Mark I is better than the plain SX-111 because it has a product detector and the plain unit does not.

You can also look for an old military surplus TS-505D/U.

I've got both the above and the HP one also mentioned.

To use the 1000 Ohm/volt, I use a DVM.

The signal generator you need, if your Elmer doesn't have one to work
with you, can easily be either a General Radio GR-1001A or an
AN/URM-25(x).  Either will do VERY well.

Yes, safety is an entirely different world!

With regard to looking for an HT-32 to go with the SX-101, consider
running the HT-37 with it.

That was the very setup that I obtained in either 1980 or '81.  The two
worked out VERY well.

I believe you'll find the SX-111 less appealing than the SX-101.

Then again it may just be personal preference.  The SX-101 audio is far
better.

However, that's just one opinion, and THAT can of worms can go for days
*IF* it gets started!  (LOL!)
