Jason,
The voltages in the boat anchors can kill you, just like the 120-220
VAC stuff you know about.
Move slowly and carefully, don't work on them if you don't have plenty
of time and not when tired or distracted.

Don't let any of your body touch the chasssis when in there.
Keep one hand in your pocket when working with HV.
When soldering watch your eyes for splatter.

Get the correct probes etc so you don't short stuff out. A small screw
driver with all but the tip taped is one good tool, and some clip on
probes are good to have.
Before you probe something be sure you know what voltage to expect.
It's best to hook up probes with power off, then turn on to read.
1st, get a good VTVM, like a HP 410-B
Eventually you will want a good Sig. Gen. like a HP 8640-B
A scope is nice.

Once again..one big issue is...Don't be in a hurry.
If in doubt ask someone.
73,
Have fun,
Lee, KC9CDT
