Definitely not an EC-1.  I have an EC-1 and it is smaller, has less controls, and the bandspread is 0-100 only.  The EC-3 was available in metal cases and was advertised along with the EC-1 in various amateur radio magazines.

This photobucket album pic "seems" to be an EC-1 not the wood cabinet EC-3.
 
Either that or I've missed the boat somewhere.
