[Hallicrafters] Old calls

Here's one for you.
The K6Xxx calls had never been issued. They would have been issued in about
56' but the FCC insisted on using them for 'experimental' stations.
I got it on a vanity application, so I can say that K6XYZ is an original
issue to me in 97'
Works great on DX, but not so hot on CW.
I've had a ticket for 51 years but some of the really old timers were having
trouble not believing I was not a bootlegger.

I had a K5 call originally issued in 1955 then in 1966 I moved to KS.
There the FCC moved me to a W0 call. Then when I moved to Texas in 1969
they assigned a vacant W5 call that was next in line for reissue. The
W0 was the same thing. I don't believe they managed to reissue all the
previously assigned calls that were vacant before the present system was
instituted.
There are many W 1X3 and K 1X3 calls out there today, I know the two I
held previously are still unused and they are issuing something like AA
or whatever to newly licensed amateurs.
