[Hallicrafters] Silver plated solid copper #14 wire

Hi Bob:
Thanks for the response. Found that the tin plated wire in final enclosures
over time becomes unsolderable. There is apparently an interaction between
the tin and copper that produces a surface that will oxidize. The process
occurs much earlier when exposed to heat --- tin plated wire apparently has
a shelf life. This is why I'm looking for silver plated wire.

Case and point, we do a lot of rework in the final compartment of the
SR-2000 and find that the tinned wire is universally unsolderable. Have to
sand down to bare copper and use sleeves to reconnect. I purchased a 50'
roll of tinned copper a couple of years ago and find that certain sections
of it are unable to hold solder. Also found that an attempt to solder to a
tin plated final coil was a no-go without sanding to copper.

If anyone has another solution, I'm all ears. Kindest regards Jim K9AXN
