  I would like to thank everyone for their help. The problem turned out to be rather simple. I noticed a carrier adjacent to the ssb signal, I had already performed the carrier null procedure, but I had to do it again (my guess is from manhandling the rig during the restoration lol.)

  The carrier once suppressed solved the bad audio issue and I am getting great reports now using a Shure 522 Mic. The radio now works FB and I am going to move on to restore the cases and this baby is done. I've been running it all day without a hiccup and she makes about 500 in low power and around 1200 plus in High. 

  I removed the old twist lock caps, removed the cardboard cases and etched up two boards to replace the originals in the supply, I mounted new equalizing resistors and 8 new snap in caps and covered them with the original Mallory covers. I will upload the pics and hopefully they will make it to the reflector. If not I will add them to the site.
