Replace ALL of the caps (the micas might be good), then clean the TUBE 
SOCKET PINS.  AFTER cleaning them with a tiny brush, dribble a BIT of DeOxit 
down them.  Check the bandswitch contact fingers - I had a National NC-57 
that drove me nuts until I figured out that the 40m band posit fingers were 
spread apart from all those years - pinching them back together fixed it. 
The SX-24 I have here came to me with ALL of these problems, and now it's 
splendid.
