Thank you everyone who sent me a response to my earlier questions. I got a lot of helpful tips and guidance. I appreciate it very much.

The news is good. The primary problem seemed to have been the bandswitch, even though it didn't look too bad to the naked eye. With some careful cleaning, the set now receives on Bands 3 and 3B. Band 4 still needs work. I am slowly prcoeeding with replacing the capacitors. Most were original. As you might have expected, all were leaky to one degree or another. The resistors are interesting. Most are within 10% or 20% of spec, except for the 100K resistors. Every one of them had drifted very high. The caps in the RF section were a real trip. Thankfully, I have a narrow soldering iron. All tubes have been checked.

Here are my further questions:

1. The bandswitch seems to have too much play. I have to wiggle it to get it to engage on Bands 2, 3 and 3B. How can I tighten it?

2.  On Band 3 (5.0 to 15.7 mhz), the band seems more sensitive above about 8 mhz than below it. I did a quick RF alignment, which helped a bit. Most of my SWLing is below 12 mhz. The manual susggests doing the alignment at 14 mhz. Would doing it at 12 mhz help sensitivity lower on the band?

Once I finish the recapping, I plan to do an IF and RF alignment. I suspect that will improve performance.
