   I see the connection too, looks like the impedance is ok for headphones tapping the tube before the transformer. I guess they use that connection since it is more of a match picking it off there. If you bypass the headphones, all of that is bypassed and then it goes thru the transformer for the speaker.. Looks like some trickery to keep the price down on circuitry design by connecting it this way. I am not a tech though, but its my best guess.. I just sleep at a Holiday inn..
