[Hallicrafters] Changes Coming For Halli Nets!

Lots of changes coming! Yes, the old blind dude is going to
retire as NCS. This will be effective on Saturday October 22,
2011. Which also just happens to be my sixty-fifth birthday.
So please send those yellow artificial feather carnations or
red roses to make my birthday party, and retirement event, a
memorable one. The memories shall never fade, nor will those
prescious hand crafted feathers ever wilt. An eternal memory.
Not to worry though, I am not intending to abandon either
Hallicrafters or the many radio friends that I have made
during my almost fourteen years as NCS, managing a dozen
'mailman.qth.net' lists, my association with the Halligan
Hallicrafters International web site and various W9WZE
Special Events. I intend to remain present to assist with
relay duties as well as an emergency NCS if no other warm
body is available! As well as to make hopefully worthy
contributions to the HHI web site. I hope to remain active,
health permitting, and to pursue some new and exciting radio
adventures.
I also want to rekindle the Wednesday evening Global Glow
roundtable. Probably on 20 meters, but possibly 40 meters if
propagation forces a frequency change. Are any of you
interested in doing the once very popular Global Glow
Roundtable again? Possibly sharing NCS duties as well as
helping as a relay station? This particular Net allows us
international coverage and can be a lot of fun!
I want to spend some time doing serious in depth research on
the military history of Hallicrafters. Want to help out? I
can sure use some! This is a new chapter of Hallicrafters
history that needs the contributions of those who were there
when it actually happened! So PLEASE fire up your filaments,
get a good grip on your grid and cause a classical cascade of
cathode circuit constituents that open new pathways into the
historical archives never before explored
in depth by vintage vacuum tube adventurers. Time waits for
none of us! We need to communicate with those Hams who were
there in 1937 or 1943 and learn their perspectives and
document them into the historical annuals.
I plan to remain active, health permitting, but I believe it
is time for some of you to keep the historical fires myself
and others ignited blazing brightly. Too much of the
Hallicrafters saga has depended on too few of us for too long
already! So prepare to park your rumpus buttacus in the NCS
chair and shock the clouds with some wild watts from your
wonders that still go glow in the dark.
While you are comfortable riding high on that artificial
cushion of imagined glory, just remember to keep your muscle
memory on full red alert for a sneak attack by an elderly
cranky old spring that may let loose expressing its
misgivings as to your posture! Who was it that said, a spring
in time saves thine disposition from the constipation of
ideas and the permafrost of procrastination.
As for tomorrows Hallicrafters Net - Sunday July 17th please
join us at 12:30 PM EDT, 1630 UTC, for the HHI
Pre-Net portion. Then hang ten at 1:00 PM EDT, 1700 UTC for
the official
start of the HHI 20 Meter Net. The frequency will be 14.293
MHZ USB +/- for
key clicks, mike splatter and those adjacent drops and
dribbles of chatter
splatter from friends far and fear. I even got a note from my
dear friend,
and hopefully yours too, K4ZDH, Riley Hollingsworth lately.
Hopefully Riley
will be joing us with some of his fabulous vintage gear,
including a kick
ionospheric dust Hallicrafters station!
Remember: I am going to be pointing the Mosley TA-33 from
Michigan 83W to
the West/northwest from 12:45 PM EDT, 1645 UTC, until 1:00 PM
EDT, or 1700
UTC. Then to the southwest from 1:00 PM EDT, 1700 UTC, until
1:15 PM EDT,
1715 UTC. Then to the southeast from 1:15 PM EDT, 1715 UTC,
until 1:30 PM
EDT, 1730 UTC. Then northeast from 1:30 PM EDT, 1730 UTC.
Finally, back to
due south from 83W from 1:45 PM EDT, 1745 UTC, until 2:00 PM
EDT, 1800 UTC.
I hope to hear many of you tomorrow, so be there or be
considered as a
square wave!
Oh yes, I need a volunteer, Roger, K9DDG, in the northwest to
serve as a NCS
one Sunday a month and as a relay station. I also need a
volunteer somewhere
in the midwest to south central west as a relay station.
IF any of you would like to share the NCS duties one sunday
each month, contact me, please! If you can not be a NCS, then
please consider being a designated relay station. Please
contact me!
If you would like to help with our fantastic HHI web site,
then contact our very talented Web Master, W5JT, Jim Thayer.

We are going to "attempt" to do a special section for the web
site on Hallicrafters involvement during WW2, the Korean War
and the VietNam war.
Anything you can contribute will be much appreciated! Be it
stories from when you were there. Materials on Hallicrafters
equipment, photos etc.
Thank you for your participation over the years, as without
you none of it would have been possible.
Hear you tomorrow and keep those wonders that still go glow
in the dark glowing and eternally going.
