I give the list credit for allowing "the other side" their input! I really
don't care to argue with those "from outer space". I just am concerned that
new guys on here will listen to this nonsence.
I am concerned for the new guy and newer ham who needs real guidance and
help restoring his radio. If you restore caps with those listed in my prior
message, you will have installed better caps then the manufacturer installed
when he built the radio. You 99.99999% of the time will never experience
any wierd results by using these caps. Use common sence and safety, and you
will do just fine. Your radio will be restored to better then new condition
and you then can go on to enjoying using the radio.
Don't forget to check each resistor as many will have risen in value way
beyond tolerence and some will have gone down in value. (Some brands of
resistors were worse then others). I have seen up to 90% of carbon
resistors out of tolerence in one radio.
You new guys, don't get hung up on all this stuff which will never enter
your life. Use a few basic rules and common sence and you will do just
fine.
