Earlier;
I know this is off subject but I know there are flyers and machinist on the forum.
I need to replace the step retract cable on my Bonanza and would like to use the in-place cable to pull the new cable from the nose gear to the aft fuselage. I need to butt solder the new-to-old cable but am having trouble getting silver solder to flow. Does anyone have a suggestion. Thanks.

P.S. I got 4 responses. Two assumed a stainless cable, the cable is 1/16 in. steel and I should be able to butt solder the ends together. The sheathing from from to back is in 3 maybe 4 sections (with open sections between) and rather tight fitting so the joint has to be close to cable diameter. I think somewhere under the floorboards there are some frayed ends causing the binding.
