Please let us know if you decide to auction this rare piece of history so we can watch the action!! 

As a side note, is there any high-end equivalent that is more rare (Just talking ham gear and not limited to Hallicrafters)? 50 units at $2500+ in 1959 money may be the ultimate.

FWIW, I have a letter from Tom Merritt on Hallicrafters letterhead, from
their Rolling Meadows address, dated October 11, 1972:

"Approximately 50 FPM-200 transceivers were manufactured."

I think only about 200 of these things were made and the selling price
back in the early 60's was around $2500. I'm willing to bet an auction
posting would drive all the collectors to dig deep into their pockets.
You might need guards to take the final payment to the bank.
