Personally, I'm happy when I can work Michigan on a Saturday Afternoon.
Alas, poor propagation, I know it well.

Subject: [Hallicrafters] How Many Verified Countries Do You Have?
Hi All,
As a matter of curiosity, and perhaps bragging rights too, how many
verified/confirmed entities do you have?
Some of us send our QSL cards into the ARRL, or where ever, to get a nice
certificate as proof of our DXing efforts. Others do not. It is probably a
lot less work to just design and print your own certificate! (LOL!)
So come on and tell us just how many entities/countries that you have worked
and been able to verify. We might have some super DX'ers hiding in the
shadows!
Remember! W5WP has a link on the HHI/Hallicrafters web site that offers a
very nice certificate for anyone who works/confirms 100 countries using
"vintage gear".
There is also a very cool, and colorful, certificate available for those who
have verified 25, 50, 75 or more SW stations. Since the SW stations seem to
be continually vanishing forever, confirming a hundred is a real challenge!
I still shake my head in amused amazement when I recall that Sunday when I
unknowingly worked forty-nine states, on the same frequency, in a ninety
minute time period! I only realized what had happened later that day when I
wrote up the Net report. I did not work North Dakota. If I had known it at
the time, I would have used the landline and called one of the Hams I know
in ND and had him get on the air so I could work him. Can you imagine
working fifty states in ninety minutes the same day? Even given the band
conditions we had then, I seriously doubt if I could ever again work
forty-nine states on the same frequency, in ninety minutes on the same day.
Especially when I was not trying to do so to begin with!
So come on and tell us about your DXing victories or surprises. You might
also tell us about your contact surprises. I am sure all of you have had
some. Go for it!
