The Sherwin-Williams formula for the gray used on the HT-37, SX-111, etc. can be found at

Please note that this is for 1 quart. The only formula in the article that is for 1 gallon is the Collins S-Line cabinet. This is "spelled out" in the article. However, a couple of people didn't read the whole article!

Any paint store can use this formula and produce a quart of the correct color paint.

Since Hallicrafters (and most other radio companies as well) did NOT prime the cabinets before painting I seriously recommend completely stripping the cabinet, priming, and then applying the color. If you paint over the original often the paint will start to flake off and that makes for an even larger job.

I just purchased a HT37 that needs some minor repair, electricly. The paint is chipped rather badly around the front edge of the case but can be repainted easily. The front is dirty but needs nothing and all the knobs are in very good condition. My question, does anyone have the proper paint code for this transmitter?? and what paint company code?

Just a note, I have a SX111 that also needs paint and could use a good tuning knob. It's not too bad but the edge is broken in one spot. I also found a Dow Key relay in a box of items that I bought at a hamfest several years ago so I'm excited a bit to get them on the air.
