Please join us on Sunday October 24th for the HHI 20 meter Net. If you are
not using Hallicrafters, or some other flavor of vintage gear, you are still
welcome. All we ask is that you have an interest in vintage radio and/or
vintage audio.

The Pre-Net is from 12:30 - 1:00 PM EDT, or 1630 - 1700 UTC.

The HHI Net proper is from 1:00 - 2:00 PM EDT, or 1700 - 1800 UTC.

REMEMBER! As of November 7th the Net times will change, along with the
banishment for a few months of DST! The Pre-Net will start at 12:45 PM EST,
or 1745 UTC. The Net proper will begin at 1:15 PM EST, or 1815 UTC and run
until 2:30 PM EST, or 1930 UTC.

This change is because many of you have requested that we return to the time
schedule that you have known for the past twelve years or so. While I was
hospitalized the Net time was moved back a hour. So to try and be fair to
all concerned, we are going to split the difference and move the
Hallicrafters Net forward only thirty minutes. Then the following Net can
begin at 2:30 EST instead of the original starting time of 3:00 PM EST.
Hopefully this will keep the majority of all involved happy and not
inconvenience too many Hams.

We do appreciate your cooperation.

The frequency will be 14.293 MHZ USB +/- for key clicks, mike splatter and
leftover tooth rattling skulls from Halloween. As well as some of those
famous, or is it infamous, chads from election booth ballots! Remember that
rather ridiculous event?

Here is hoping to hear many of you tomorrow. For whatever the reason, my
antennas have been hearing impaired to anyone in the midwest the past five
weeks. Although last Sunday I did hear Oregon, Colorado, Nevada, Missouri,
New Mexico and Arizona. Heck, on Saturday I even worked a station in
Wisconsin! That was the first one in eighteen months. So there may yet be
hope!

I had to chuckle several weeks ago when one of the solar weather people with
NASA proclaimed that we would hit the solar minimum in 2012! How long has
this eleven year solar cycle been going now ... If they predict enough
dates, sooner or later they have got to be right due to the laws of
probability and chance!

Oh yes, the weekend of October 30th and 31st Not only is October 31st
Halli-ween, or Halloween, it is also the for real Magician's Holiday. Truth!
Why? Because Harry Houdini died in Beaumont Hospital in Detroit, Michigan on
October 31, 1926 of a ruptured appendix. That was before the discovery of
antibiotics.

It is also the weekend of a world wide DX contest that many Hams like to
participate in. For this reason, we will suspend the Hallicrafters Sunday 20
meter Net on Halloween. So carve your pumpkins, give the children some
candy, work some new and rare DX and have fun. We will be on the twenty
meter band somewhere wandering around with an ear to the speaker listening
for a new country to add to our humble list of 143 verified contacts.

Hear ya tomorrow!
