"The Unsuspected" (1947) with Claude Raines, Joan Caulfield and a bunch 
of other names from those days.

It's a great movie for Noir fans though I guess it's only semi-noir. 
Raines is the creator/star/narrator of a mystery radio show who commits 
a crime or two of his own.  It's worth watching just to see Raines work.

Seems like there's an SX-42 and something that keeps showing up in 
Raines' home studio which looks like pieces of a '42 cobbled up into a 
wooden case.
