That was my problem up north: a big, well-built house with 19 rooms
and a 2 story carriage house. Had a 1400 lb broadcast transmitter in
the formal dining room then later in the living room, it barely made
the floors creak as it rolled from room to room. Being single with a
decent job and all the space is not necessarily a good thing when you
like old stuff, though.
The move was an eye-opener for me, I'm thankful each day. From 400+
radios down to 150 or fewer now. It's really helped me focus on what I
really want to use and enjoy, not just what I can have. Having still
moved way too much stuff (with more still in storage up north), I
cannot imagine doing it 10-20 years or more from now. You and Herman
have a few years on me and quite a few more radios by the sounds. I
know Herman is like the human vacuum cleaner at Shelby. Just don't
know how you guys can do it.
Of course, cutting the available square footage by at least half makes
for some interesting solutions for the remaining gear. Both guest
rooms are well outfitted, one with TRF battery sets and early electric
sets, the other with amateur and surplus WWII aircraft gear. Then
there's the garages, one of which contains the radio room. The wife is
very understanding (so far). So long as I keep one bay open for her
car, it stays quiet.... (o:
