>SX-110 is just a SX-99 with a sliderule dial.

And to continue with that progression... an SX-99 is just an S-85 with a
crystal filter and s-meter and an S-85 is just an S-40 in a different cabinet
with new styling and an S-40 is just an S-20R in a new cabinet and so
forth.

Bill Halligan's business model was give 'em the most bang for the buck.
Design a few basic circuits and create a wide range of models to fit every
pocketbook by changing the styling, make the cabinets look different and add
more controls and features such as an s-meter and or crystal filter and
build them with broadcast grade components purchased in bulk to keep the price
low.

Now which one was the best? Author Raymond S. Moore asked that same
question many years ago and extensively researched the subject and published his
findings which resulted in four volumes of "Communications Receivers, The
Vacuum Tube Era, 1932- 1981." Moore's answer after all his research
studying all of those receivers from a myriad of manufacturers: It all depends.

What was Hallicrafters best overall receiver?

I am familiar with the SX-28 and SX-100. I have a SX-110 which leaves a
lot to be desired. A SX-110 is just a SX-99 with a sliderule dial.

I'm interested in knowing about the SX-101 and SX-111.
