Hiya, Boomer, and Carl. I don't know if this would give you anything to
go by or not, but the recap kits that we make up to go along with our
electrolytic can-capacitors use various combinations of the following 11
polyesters:

.001
.0022
.0033
.0047
.01
.02 or .022
.033
.047
.1
.22
.47

I should point out that most of our kits are for ham, in case that makes
a difference.

There are a few low volume ones that we have to keep around, 1.6 kV
polyprops for the Heathkit scopes, .002 @ 1 kV for certain Halli's and
their AF outputs, that sort of thing.

But 99% of the "paper replacers" that we put into the kits are covered
by the 11 caps in the list above.

BTW, for all the values in that list, we use 630V Mallorys. This is
mostly for the sake of keeping the number of stocked items down. The
200V's *would* be a little less expensive, about 55-60% of the cost of
the 630V's.

Carl, your point about the size is well taken. Thus far though, I
haven't seen any applications where the polyester 630V's weren't smaller
than the old 200V paper/foil units.

Digressing for a second, Hayseed is getting closer to having the new
line in place so we can go back to full production on our multi-section
electrolytic cans. We're waiting for samples of dielectric materials
(hopefully they shipped today) which we will gleefully push to the point
of destruction. One last piece of tooling to go. Also a slight
re-design of the twist-tab ring. Then we'll be in business.

We do have a small number of Halli, Hammarlund, Heathkit, and Drake cans
on hand, as well as the plug-in R-390 cans that we've managed to eke
out, if anyone is in need.

Good luck with your project!

73,
Tom NØJMY . .
