This is handbuilt prototype #2, mine is #3.  Same differences which 
include scribe marks for chassis layout, two extra crystals on the 2nd 
Converter and an extra tube on the main chassis which is a buffer for 
the external IF output.    Mine also has one tube socket hole punched in 
the wrong location - a filler was welded in place and the new hole 
punched as you can see here:

The serial number plate is present but no s/n has ever been added - just 
the grease pencil markings several places on the unit.    I've not seen 
handbuilt prototypes of other models - has anyone?
