[Hallicrafters] SX-42 Pedestal?

I think the appeal must be it was Hallicrafters first post-war flagship receiver with the widest frequency coverage offered including FM which was new then and it was styled by famous industrial designer Raymond Loewy who is called the father of 20th century industrial design. Possibly in comparison to some of the others with front panels that looked like the controls to a washing machine.

What's so special about SX-42s? They are not exactly good looking units.
