[Hallicrafters] Very slow warm-up for SX-62

I am embarrassed to admit that I'm not knowledgable about tube type radios. I'm a ham radio operator (KQ4YA) but inexperienced and not skilled when it comes to old radios. That said, here's the deal.
I purchased an SX-62. The warm-up time is incredibly long - more than four minutes. I have some other tube type receivers and while, obviously, there is a warm-up period but it's usually in the 30 second to one minute range. So I'm guessing that something isn't right.
Once warm it works after a fashion but the volume level seems lower than it should be.
Is the crazy-long warm-up period a common symptom of anything in particular?
Also - when it comes to the relatively low volume - would it make sense to replace the pair of 6V6 tubes? (I do not have a tube tester and don't mind buying the 6V6 tubes just as something to try).
Thanks so much for any suggestions or tips. As you can tell I'm without a clue as far as how to begin.
