Depends on whether you want to restore the appearance of it or just make it look better. You can't really rub on it too much or you will end up polishing the original flat or semi-gloss appearance to a high gloss. One product that does work well is OZ polish made and sold by Constantines in NY. Clean your panel and wipe on a very thin coat; it will dry to the touch to a semi-gloss and it will look right. If you need to restore your original panel you will need to find a screen painter that has the screens and can spray a near flat color with antique white or aged white silk-screened nomenclature. Too glossy doesn't look right and refrigerator white silk screening (which everybody always uses) makes it look like it was just repainted which you might want to avoid.
If your front panel is not badly scratched and you want to somewhat restore the appearance without going to the trouble of complete refinishing there is a shortcut that achieves fairly good results. Remove the panel from the receiver and remove all hardware, escutcheons and bezels, etc. Polish the panel with white automotive polishing compound without regard to how glossy it will be. Wash the panel, get it clean and dry and spray on a coat of flat clear enamel. The panel will look nearly new again and the flat clear will turn the polished gloss back to flat which is the way most of them were originally, if keeping the original appearance is important.
