[Hallicrafters] HT-44 / SX-117

Hi Lee,

I run a HT-44 / SX-111 station and like the combination. Very few
problems and I always get good reports. I've had them for about 5
years and before the 44/117 I has a HT-37 / SX-111 setup. The
transceive mode in 44/117 works very well and caused no issues in
connections - just follow the manual.

I had a 44 along with a 117. There were a few minor issues in getting
set up transceive with the 117, but I received good reports and I really
never had what I'd call problems worth worrying about. I thought they
made a good combination and you didn't need an engine hoist to move
either one.

Good audio, light weight, stable, and reliable is how I'd rate it.

The 44 and 117 came at the end of the "muscle" rigs. Not that the rigs
had muscle like a muscle car, but that it took muscle to move them.
That being the case they were often though of as cheap rigs and they
were inexpensive and feather weights compared to the SX101, SX115,
HT-32, and HT-37 series. However I never could find fault with mine,
other than the time my fingers slipped down on the meter probes in the
PS and it tried to electrocute me.

I don't remember what the 44 had for finals and I only had mine for
about two years and no maintenance issues which is certainly a better
report than I can give my Yaesu 897D mobile rig.
