but back in the 90's my Mother took me to meet a ham she'd worked with 
at the Atlanta & West Point Railroad in the 30's.

He lived in a six story retirement home in South Atlanta.  It was his 
good luck to have worked at the railroad with one of the directors of 
the home.  So, John had a 20M dipole on the roof with coax dropped down 
to his window on the first floor.  He had a small Tenn-Tec of some sort 
and a bug and worked only 20M CW.
