If it's complete, unmodified and in restorable condition (meaning methods and parts reasonably accessible to the average collector) it's worth $300. 

Maybe advise your friend on the standard reply Collins sellers use when prospective flea-market browsers looking for bargains complain about the high asking prices of Collins equipment:

"poor man buy Heathkit"

My poor (cheap) friend does not wish to pay a median price for the unit.  He has 
ll the S-38 series matching receivers and gazillions of others, but is too 
ight to purchase this rare(r) unit at a good guy price.  So I will post it here 
efore it goes to another venue.
Complete with 80M coil sans the bottom cover.  Does have rear cover.  Not dented 
r rusted.  I glanced at it and it missing a knob, I think.  I do not know how 
o post pictures to this mailer.  I do not dare power it up!  What should it be
