Hi Howie --
I used orange drops on mine and the recap went fine. Do spend the time to
check the resistors; I found quite a few of mine way out of tolerance.
My 101A worked great before the recap (especially on 10M), and it's even
better afterward. I did not feel I needed to do an alignment after the
recap. I probably wouldn't hurt to do one though.
Some manuals state there are black beauties in the 2nd Converter
Subchassis. I removed mine to find there were disc ceramic caps in them
instead; that really shouldn't have surprised me as my manual was a copy
and probably wasn't associated with the radio originally.
Have fun. The 101A is a great receiver.
