[Hallicrafters] Knob finish question.

     I just bought a little electroplating kit that is 
supposed to do nickel plating. One thing I was going to try 
it on is the trim rings on the tuning knobs that fit the 
S-40A and S-38B. Also the bandswitch knob of an S-40A. These 
are corroded to the point where I can't tell if the original 
finish was bright chrome or satin chrome. Its also been a 
very long time since I've seen any of these knobs in 
original condition. Also, has anyone else tried this?
