Happy Halli-days to all -

If you enjoy my attempts at poetic verse and amusing anecdotes, then check
out the assortment of holiday related items now on the Hallicrafters web
site. They can be found in the area that "normally" features the
misadventures, and sometimes adventures, of the infamous amphibian known as
'Frogzilla'. Not all of the poems and tales involve our amphibian with an
ego larger then the buttocks crosswidth of a T-Rex! Some are just about the
holidays and others about the holidays with a halli-day item. A warm fuzzy
friendly glow that is not procured from that vintage flask of burbon Aunt
Eliza gave your great great grandfather! Or so the tale is told - (LOL!)

Also check out the latest Short-Wave logs posted by listener Stewart
MacKenzie, WDX6AA in sunny southern California. That place where they put
garland around a cactus instead of a Scotch Pine! For those who are curious,
the "WDX6AA" is a short-wave listener call issued by ? after Hank Bennett
stopped writing his column for Popular Electronics. Apparently Stewart must
have gotten one of the first ones issued for California with that "AA"
suffix?

Coming soon: On the HHI (Halligan's Hallicrafters International) web site -
A special audio link for one of the May 1942 'Red Rider' radio shows! This
one brought to my attention by Jim Jones who supplied me with a copy of it
on CD. It is about "a young Billy Halligan from Chicago, Illinois". Sound
somehow familiar? Young Bill is ... here is a real surprise ... avidly
involved in electricity and such stuff! (Why does that not surprise me?
(snicker)) His health is suffering from the plights, blights and smog of the
big city, so his father sends him off to visit his Uncle on the ranch to get
some fresh air, hay fever and muscles!

Naturally our western hero, Red Rider and his trusty companion, happen to
meet young Bill. Does young Billy Halligan manage to rescue the west with
some insightful piece of electronics? You are going to have to wait until
our talented and dedicated Web Master W5JT, Jim Thayer, gets this audio link
up and operating from the Halli web site. Enjoy!

Also Coming Soon: If, and that two letter word is a big one, all goes well,
the technical tips posted on the Hallicrafters mail reflector from my
archives of some 997 of them, will be added to the Hallicrafters web site
inventory of everything you ever, sometimes never, wanted to know about
Hallicrafters and other vintage rigs! Even more cool, you will be able to
download them! This is a first, as nothing has been downloadable in the
past. Why? Mainly an issue of security. Keep an eye open for these tips!

I would also like to publically thank W5JT, Jim Thayer, for his hosting and
management of the HHI web site. It is a never ending battle for him to
thwart the stream of virus attacks, bots and so forth that constantly attack
this, and all, web sites. If you enjoy the wide variety of helpful, amusing
and clever items found on the site, send him a few dollars to keep it
operating. There is a button for donations for those wishing to use PayPal
now. Any, and all, donations are appreciated.

Happy holidays to all! I hope to hear you on the air. Merry Christmas, Feliz
Navidad and all of the other warm well wishes to all. If you hate the
holidays, no problem, check out "If You Don't Like It, Call 1-800-SCROOGE!
