[Hallicrafters] PL-172 saga

As some of you might remember I acquired three PL-172's and one PL-184A socket for the same a few weeks ago.  Larry Godek was kind enough to test all three tubes for me in his transmitter but, much to my dismay, two were no good and the third was just 'okay'.  I gave Larry the tube that worked for his labor and kindness.  This leaves me with a socket and no tubes for it therefore I am going to try to sell it to recoup what I paid
for the tubes and the cost to ship them to Larry.

The PL-184A socket is in excellent shape.  It is made by Penta Labs.  I have not yet found another tube that has the same dimensions as the PL-172 but I do know that the base socket in the PL-184A is the same as that used by a 4D32 or 829B.  There are four HV 500 pF doorknob capacitors that are used to bypass the screen grid to ground.  I don't know if this is the same socket that is used in the HT-33B but I suspect it might be.

Pictures available on request but I won't be able to send them for a few days as I am headed out of town today and won't have internet access until I return.

Anybody interested?
