When was the last time it was completely aligned? And did you check
resistor tolerance when doing the caps?
The 101 is known to be somewhat deaf on 10M which was improved with the
101A.

Subject: [Hallicrafters] SX 101 Mk III low sensitivity
Been working on a nice SX 101 with some problems. 160 thru 40 meters
sensitivity is excellent. 20 meters thru ten meters sensitivity is low to
very
low on 10 meters. I have checked all tubes (Hickok tube tester) and replaced
all tubes not to spec. No difference.
Replaced all paper caps, some were in obviously poor condition, no change.
Cleaned all switch contacts with Dioxit and q-tips. Cleaned all tube sockets
w/Dioxit with a small tapered fine wire scrubber. No difference.
Rx is stable, audio is clean and clear on am/ssb/cw, in all modes. No
differnece.
Checked voltages at all points specified in manual, all within specs.
I really want this rig working as it should but with limited tech knowledge
I am
stumped.
Any ideas will be appreciated.
