Greetings to all.
I have an SX28 in for renovation which had its gearbox etc. stripped down
and the bits packed into plastic bags.
Thanks to the readers who pointed me in the correct direction for the
necessary information to successfully reconstruct the gearbox.
I am now at the point of having to pull the front end to replace the faulty
paper caps.
However,I noticed the power transformer (marked with the Hallicrafters logo)
has a 115/230 Volt switch on the top of the upper end shell.Subsequent
examination shows the transformer to be possibly a 220 Volt primary with the
115/230 Volt switch doing precisely nothing. The HV secondary comes up with
about 800 V AC across the full winding,eg. 400V each side of a centre
tap. There is a 5V winding for the rectifier and a 6.3 V winding for the tube
heaters. There is another winding which looks to possibly be 6.3V with centre
tap.All the above voltages are with the transformer unloaded. The secondary
voltages look way to high to me however I'm looking for guidance.
Any comments?
TIA,Brian G.
