[Hallicrafters] 5-T sky buddy

A Hallicrafters 5-T Sky Buddy with the "radio boy" dial (item # 280390653404) recently sold for over $600 on eBay. It looks to be in pretty rough condition but restorable and has extra knobs (all the knobs are the wrong type), switches,  a panel light and  other mods that shouldn't be there.

The 5-T was the first shortwave radio that I remember owning back in the late 50's and got me started in the hobby. It was a  modest performer and  pretty old even then. Don't know where it went, but it was the "radio boy" model which seems to be much scarcer than the other dial type.

So, if you have one don't throw it out!
