Actually closer to $4700 according to this inflation calculator:

It only goes to 2008. Like the KW-1 and other low-production radios
considered desirable by some today, it seems to indicated that old
radios really aren't a good investment. If you'd bought it new in
1955, you'd have a small profit at the current price. Investing the
same amount in the market or elsewhere then would've netted
considerably more.

Then again - if you got the radio to enjoy and used it for all these
years, it's tough to value that. 'Priceless' comes to mind....
