Silver faced SX-28's
Guess it depends on which liar you want to listen too:
"Presentation radio for the King of Jordan"
"Presentation unit for His Nibs the Duke of Paducah"
"Presentation unit for the Grand Pubah of............."
You get the idea.
I have a 28 setting on the back of my bench. One day something fell against
it and about 1/4 of the paint fell off. Subsequently the rest is gone.
Beautiful nickel plate underneath.
I have also seen some very early radios with rust coming thru the finish.
My guess.....they nickel plated some of the panels to prevent corrosion.
Probably stopped when the war made nickel scarce. Anyway that's my guess.
Now about my radio, it is an FCC model.
Probably made as a presentation radio to the head of the FCC.
I also got some lanwamp for sale.
Thanx
