Please be advised -- unless you are talking about the cover that goes on the bottom of a cabinet version or table model SX-28/28A, there is not a cover that just goes over the RF section.
The rack version has a cover, but it covers the entire chassis.
Someone was making "repro" bottom covers for the rack models that just covered the coil area; but these are not correct. As far as I know, Hallicrafters never made a cover like that.
The same person, I think, was making reproduction cabinet bottoms for the SX-28 and SX-28A... I've not seen one but they are reportedly very nice. If there is a difference between the versions, I'm not aware of the details.
GOOD LUCK finding an actual rack mount bottom!
I was very, very fortunate (I think...?) about 3 or 4 years ago to see a rack-mount bottom cover surface on eVilBay... the seller was restoring his radio to put into a cabinet. (I like the rack version -- for one thing, it's a lot lighter!) I got the cover, but paid too, too, too much for it. However, this is the only "loose" cover I have ever seen in captivity.
I've spotted only ONE rack mount SX-28 on eVilBay, of the hundreds that have popped up there, that still had its bottom cover. That was several years ago. In fact I bid on it, but the final selling price was a king's ransom; I dropped out long before it closed.
By the way, none of the SX-28 manuals, including the military manuals, lost a part number for that rack mount bottom cover.
