[Hallicrafters] Transistors

Hi David,
Hey you rascal, I am still waiting for that QSL you promised me last year
for our very enjoyable, but all too brief, QSO.
I always heard people talking about Germanium diodes. Especially concerning
crystal radio sets. Was there anything else used for the cat whisker and
chunk of crystal other then Galena?
Why, I wonder, did all of these people talk about the Germanium diode when
it was Galena? Just mistaken or is there some piece of the radio lore jig
saw puzzle missing?

I don't know about new crystal radio sets given the scare tactics about
lead in recent times, but the old standby for a crystal was lead sulfide
aka Galena.
