Jim,

I agree with Rodger about the resistors. A few years ago I was trying to make a National NC-
98 hear. Sensitivity was pathetic. It turned out to be an open resistor on the control grid of the 
RF amp. That resistor looked perfect. As good as new. No cracks even under a 10x 
magnifier. It had not shifted up in value - er - well I guess you could say it shifted up to infinity. 
I'm saving it in my pile of black beauties to sell to audiophiles <g>. Once replaced, the radio 
came alive (scary thought).

> I re-capped and re-tubed a 1947 S40a, and exchanged the 6SA7 mixer for a 6SB7-Y  but sensativity is still zilch. Even with a 135 ft. dipole.
