Bill,

There may be folks on this list or others (such as the R-390 list) who
are in Canada and have shipped stuff south. I suspect that since the
things you likely will ship are both old and US made, there should be
no real problem with customs or duty once you figure out what to do.
There is one guy on the R-390 list who has been in the shipping
business for years (he always pipes up when we beat the dead horse
called "how to pack and ship a radio").

The 45 minute drive may turn out to be worth it - but only factual
knowledge of the options will let you decide.

Note: The US postal system recently revised its rate system for such
things as packages and media male. The net result is that they get
lots more money from us now if you are unaware of the changes, and if
you are, they get only a moderate amount more for some things.

Be VERY careful of such outfits as "UPS Supply Chain Solutions". They
manage international shipments for commercial accounts. Perhaps their
charges are justified for commercial goods that are new and going to
market at a profit. But I can assure you that us radio guys can get
stuck with outrageous fees to move treasured boatanchors from there to
here.
