[Hallicrafters] What is it worth?

The value of an old piece of gear is set by the market
and unfortunately not in relation to how it performs.

Receivers such as the SX-88 and the Hammarlund Pro-310 were not high
production items and often it takes extensive work to get them to come near
the original specs. Receivers such as the SX-101 and Hammarlund HQ-170 are
usually great performers
but since they are abundant (wording from Fred Osterman) the price to
acquire one is still reasonable.

Most of us pass when we see the SX-88 being sold for $7,500 or the Pro-310
for even $3,000. Alternatives (and high performers to boot) include the
75A4 and SX-115. Even the Hammarlund HQ-215 can be found for less than $400
at times.
