A source of information about old radios is the Mid Atlantic Antique  
Radio Club
www.maarc.org
and it's associated museum and Radio History Society.

  Their librarian is very experienced in these sets, and their library  
has lots of good info in addition to the Riders manuals.  A  
compilation of all the info they have on a radio is very modest in  
cost, and  you might get personal experience to boot.  I can't find  
the email on the recently redesigned web site, though
