Don't fall on the sword yet. Is your BFO coil physically broken or  can you just not see continuity through it with your VOM/VTVM? Get hold of a jewelers loupe or magnifying glass and inspect each wire end from the coil. Restrip and resolder to each terminal. If necessary take a razor knife and "filet" the last turn of the wire away from the body of the coil, remove the varnish and resolder to the terminal. Although this is not an absolute in the universal world of things, I have never seen an coil open up...only the coil wire become separated from the terminals.

Yeah, you can also add an aftermarket BFO board...but...ugh!

Thanks to all for the help with the dead BFO, if anyone has a spare BFO  
coil for this unit (S20R) please let me know, otherwise I have an AM only rx.
