[Hallicrafters] SX-101A Front Panel Toggle Switch Removal

I'm trying to get the toggle switches off from the front panel of my SX-101A so I can remove it, but a couple are very stubborn & won't budge. I don't want to score either the threads or the toothed nuts holding them by using a pliers. It appears too tight space-wise to get at the hex nuts holding them on the back of the panel. 



Any suggestions?
