[Hallicrafters] caps

Back in the late 50's early 60's there was a Bug with a transverse
mounted Olds V-8 mounted in place of the rear seat. It was a direct
drive via chain and sprockets to some modified rear end.

It was the terror of Milwaukee and I saw it on the streets a few times
when I was at USN ET School.

In 66 I dropped a Corvair motor and transaxle in a Bug, it won a lot of
money street racing.

Ive done many other strange conversions, not all successful! A 283 Chevy
in a Bug Eye Sprite was one well remembered failure. Upon launching from
a stoplight the first day on the road the right front wheel did not
return to the ground. That engine wound up in a A-H 3000 were it
performed quite well.
