I am glad someone mentioned that you do not subsribe to QST. It is
product of being a member of the ARRL. Having been a member since 1956
and a LIFE Member since 1969, I have all my "hard copies" in library. I
also purchased the CD's, not so much as using them for the pictures, but
support of the program. They were a "farmed out" product and were not
-top notch-.
It was mentioned in ARRL forums I attended this past summer that the
publication would be on-line for members, so is not really a new thing.
Looking back in the 50-60's back issues, we had LOTS of ads, true not full
page color types, but lots none the same. A lot of division and section
news that we do not have now, as it is on line. But let's face it. Our
hobby/service has and is changing. Check out the totally computer
controlled software defined/controled rigs and the fully automatic tuners
now days. These were only "dreams" when we talk about the -good 'ole
times-. And yes, I have a lot of Hallicrafters gear yet also, incl an
HT-32/SX-101A station and several other pieces, S38 etc, that are "long
history" so do a lot of lookups in my old magazine collection.
I truely "hurt" when some folk bash the leaque, complain about QST etc.
If you really feel negative about it, tell them, and your Division
Director.
I took Ham Radio, until it folded also -73-. (Uncle Wayne is still
around!) still get CQ and World Radio. They all have their place in our
great hobby.
Just my thoughts and observation.
